About "Full Moon Oracle"

I wanted to create an Oracle deck based on the natural cycles of life, where the cards followed a pattern and were easy to remember and interpret. Most things work in cycles—there is the spark of an idea, it takes root, grows, blossoms, wanes and ends. Sometimes we repeat a part of the cycle many times before completing it. These cards reflect those cycles.

The Full Moon Oracle deck is based on the cycles of the sun and moon and includes two groups of cards, or Arcana: Lunar and Solar. The 40 Lunar cards follow the phases of the moon, from new to full and back again, in each of five suits:

  • Air: Intellect and Communication
  • Fire: Self and Identity
  • Water: Emotions and Relationships
  • Earth: Physical, Material and Wealth
  • Ether: Spirit and Mystery
The eight Solar cards follow the turning of the year through the seasons.

38. Transformation

Be the Change

This is a time for transformation. Some-thing is shifting and emerging in a completely new way. It is time to go into your cocoon so that you can emerge as something different. Take the time and space you need and don’t let others sway you from entering into this process.

Transformation takes a lot of effort. Sometimes it involves going through some rough patches and it can be frustrating and frightening. You may even experience a period of time when you feel as though you are not growing at all and are stuck in a dark place. Have faith. Transformation requires a commitment to growth and a willingness to do the hard work. Once you have emerged, you can take pride in all you have accomplished, and all you had to endure to get there.

The butterfly is the ultimate symbol of transformation. It also represents death and rebirth. Your old self is dying so a newer version can be born.

“Transformation isn’t sweet and bright. It’s a dark and murky, painful pushing. An unraveling of the untruths you’ve carried in your body. A practice in facing your own created demons. A complete uprooting, before becoming.” ― Victoria Erickson

REVERSED: You may be resisting change or you may be stuck in the deep dark places of transformation and not see a way forward.

13. Self-Love

Love Who You Are

This card represents being secure in your identity--a shining star. It indicates feeling strong and capable and happy with who you are. You have done the work, and you are a better person for it. You have confidence and are able to step up to life’s challenges. This is a happy time with reason to celebrate.

Fall in love with yourself. Make a commitment to yourself. Always be true to yourself, and live your life in the way you have defined for yourself. Loving yourself is the foundation for loving others and finding true happiness. It is the key, and no other relationships will flourish until your relationship with yourself is solid. Like any relationship, it takes work. You need to put forth the effort to make this relationship bloom. That means spending time with yourself, appreciating yourself, and forgiving yourself.

No matter how you choose to practice loving yourself—through self-pleasure, eye-gazing with yourself, pampering, or just doing things you love—it is an important practice to engage in on a regular basis. Having the feeling of love for yourself is a great start, but acting in loving ways toward yourself is even better.

“To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness.” ― Robert Morley

REVERSED: You may be resisting fully loving yourself, engaging in self-doubt, beating yourself up about something, or listening to your inner critic.

21. Love

Choose Love

The love card is special. It indicates that your heart is open and you are in a place where you are able to give and receive love.

You may have a relationship or connection that is at its peak and going well. You may be basking in the glow of the divine love, or in a deep love relationship with yourself. You may be feeling fulfilled and whole. Your emotional state is vibrant and it shows. This is a happy time to celebrate with loved ones.

Love is the key to happiness. Living in love does not necessarily mean being in a relationship. The feeling of love comes from within. You choose how you feel, and you can choose to feel love. You are love. Your love shines. You are self-sufficient and know how to be happy without needing anything or anyone else.

"One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: That word is love." – Sophocles

REVERSED: You may have the relationship you thought you wanted, but it may not be living up to your expectations. You may want more, but may not believe your current connections will provide what you need. The butterfly is the ultimate symbol of transformation. It also represents death and rebirth. Your old self is dying so a newer version can be born.

46. Gratitude

Good Fortune

Lughnasadh, or Lammas, marks the turn from summer to fall. This is the harvest festival, where we reap the benefits of what we have sewn and labored over during the year. This card represents the reward of our efforts; the consequences of our actions. It may not always be what we expected, but it’s what we have.

This card indicates good fortune or a bountiful harvest. You may have had something fortuitous happen, or something important may be going your way.

This is a good time to reflect on the bounty of your life and be grateful. You might want to write out a list of the things you are grateful for, or meditate on your feelings of gratitude. Tell others you appreciate them. An “attitude of gratitude” can go a long way toward feeling happy.

It’s also a good time to be generous and share your good fortune with your community. Even if you don’t have a lot of material wealth to share, you do have something valuable to offer. Just being in community and sharing yourself is enough.

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” ― Robert Brault

REVERSED: You may be allowing disappointment to affect you instead of focusing on what you are grateful for. You may have some grief you need to release.
